Fundus gets the spoken text out of a recording and hands it to your assistant. It uses published captions or the show's official transcript if there is one, and otherwise runs Whisper on your own machine.

Somewhere in episode seven, after the first half hour, someone said the thing you need. To find it again, you have to listen again.
AI assistants are good at working with text, as long as they have it. Until then you copy captions by hand or pay a transcription service by the minute.
Published captions where they exist, local Whisper where they don't (on Apple Silicon it runs on the Neural Engine). With timestamps, searchable, and exported as txt, md, srt, vtt or json.
Paste a Spotify, Apple Podcasts or RSS link and you get the episode with its shownotes and the official transcript, if the show publishes one. If it doesn't, Fundus writes a Whisper script you can run yourself. This works for ten episodes at once, and you can search the whole package.
Fundus is also an MCP server. Claude and other assistants can fetch transcripts, resolve podcast links and search packages on their own, so you don't have to copy and paste anything.

Paste one link or a whole list. Fundus shows title and author before it fetches anything.

Runs locally, entirely on your Mac and over your own connection. It is not distributed as a download: you build it from source with one script. It sets up the components it needs, and there is a history with a private mode and a check for new episodes of shows you fetched before.

For your own server: docker compose up -d. It supports several accounts with an invite code, so your team can share one instance and its MCP endpoint. The image ships without media extractors on purpose. If you want them, you install them yourself.
There is no hosted instance, no telemetry and no account with us.
The Mac app only listens on your own machine and only lets its own window in.
Fonts are bundled, so opening this page doesn't contact any third party.
Fundus is not a tool for obtaining copies of works you have no right to copy. It contains no code for defeating encryption or DRM. Some platforms block requests from datacenter IPs. In that case official transcripts, local Whisper or the Mac app on your home connection still work.
